Here are the four most common types of EV connectors:

1. SAE-J1772 – this is the Level 1 and Level 2 charging standard for all non-Tesla EVs sold in North America. 

2. Tesla – a proprietary charging standard used by all Teslas, with a single plug for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 DC fast charging. 

3. CCS – or Combined Charging Systems is an open-industry standard and the most common type of DC fast charging connector. It looks like the J1772 but has 2 additional power lines at the bottom, allowing a high-voltage connection for fast charging.

4. CHAdeMO – created by the Japanese auto industry as a DC fast charging standard. Some Japanese brands still use this, but they’re slowly becoming rare.

There are many types of NEMA sockets, but when it comes to EV charging, these are the two types you need to know:

1. NEMA 5-15 – known as the basic wall outlet, these are the type of outlets where you plug basic home appliances into. These sockets can handle up to 16A and 120V of power and are the standard for Level 1 chargers.

2. NEMA 14-50 – sometimes called the RV outlet, these are where you plug in large appliances like refrigerators and washing machines. They allow up to 50A and 240V of power and are the standard for Level 2 chargers.
