The new adapters are expected to alleviate backlogs by offering an alternative option that has been extensively tested for safety and compatibility with Ford vehicles, according to Lectron. In particular, Lectron says their latest design addressed a previous issue that led to unlatching during charging.

Although some Ford customers already received NACS adapters earlier this year, the additional supply from Lectron allows Ford to continue delivering free adapters to customers that ordered them before the August 31 deadline. Customers who missed that deadline will have to pay C$280/US$200 to purchase one, but they will have to wait until February 2025.
