Pick up this Lectron EV charging adapter to connect with most Tesla chargers and save $250 while you're at it. If you own a Tesla and are looking to buy another EV, or vice versa, you'll need this adapter for your home charger.
The bundle comes with two adapters: a Tesla-to-J1772 charging port adapter and a J1772-to-Tesla adapter. (Kinda confusing, we know.) Essentially, one adapter is for plugging a Tesla EV charger into a non-Tesla vehicle, while the other allows J1772 chargers to plug into a Tesla's charging port.
For reference, J1772 is the default protocol for EVs; Tesla just does it a bit different. If you need to cross brands, you'll need a J1772 adapter to charge both types of EVs with your home charger.
If you own a Tesla and are in the market for, say, a Polestar, Hyundai Ioniq 5, or another type of EV, you can charge them both via your home charger using a J1772 adapter. The opposite is also true: If you own a non-Tesla EV but are looking to add a Tesla to your stable, you'll need a J1772 adapter. So you might as well pick up one now at 57 percent off!
Note, however, that the Tesla-to-J1772 adapter doesn't work with Tesla Superchargers—it's only compatible with the Tesla High Power Wall Connector, Destination Charger, and Mobile Connector. While this would be limiting, especially on road trips, it opens up many more charging opportunities for non-Tesla EV owners elsewhere.
Most importantly, it keeps owners of both types of EVs from having to pony up big bucks for both types of chargers.
Back to the deal. Normally listed for $440, the price has been slashed all the way down to $190—a savings of $250. Better yet, Lectron is having a site-wide sale on most of its EV equipment, so if this particular adapter bundle isn't for you, it might be worth taking a scroll anyway. We don't know how long this deal will last, but with that kind of discount, it can't be for long.
