Step 2: Plug the charger into the outlet

Once you have found a suitable power source, plug the charger into the outlet and wait for it to turn on. Watch out for the indicator light and the display screen on the charger to ensure it is powered.

Note: Make sure that your electric vehicle is parked within reach of the charger and close to a NEMA 14-50 outlet.

Step 3: Connect the charger to your EV

Open the charging port on your vehicle and insert the J1772 connector. You will hear a click indicating that the charger is securely in place. Charging begins automatically.

Step 4: Monitor charging

Monitor the charging process either through your vehicle’s dashboard or through the charger itself. The LED indicator lights show your charging status and the display screen shows how much power has gone into the car, the charging current, and the temperature of the unit.

Step 5: Adjust the charging current accordingly

The Lectron NEMA 14-50 Level 2 EV Charger has a maximum charging current of 32 Amps. If you want to slow down the charging, just press the “-” button. This is useful in some applications like preventing overheating wiring or charging slower overnight so the battery is nice and warm in the morning.

Step 5: Disconnect the charger

Once your battery is fully charged, safely disconnect the charger from your vehicle’s charging port by pressing the release button on top of the charging plug and gently pulling it off of the port.

Unplug the charger from the outlet, ensuring a firm grip on the plug while removing it.

To store, loop the cable and store it in the included carrying bag.
