Access Tesla Superchargers with the Lectron Vortex Plug for CCS Vehicles

In 2019, Tesla initiated a pilot program in select locations in the Netherlands, allowing non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) to access its Supercharger network. Fast forward to 2023, and the company is now planning to open up over 15,000 Supercharger ports in the US to non-Tesla EVs by the end of 2024.

Tesla's charging network comprises about 24% of all DC fast chargers nationwide. This expansion is a significant move towards meeting the growing demand for high-performance EV charging infrastructure. As this rollout progresses, several automakers, including BMW, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Nissan, Rivian, Toyota, and others, have agreed to adopt Tesla’s proprietary North American Charging Standard (NACS) in their future models. Starting from 2024/25, EVs from these manufacturers will be equipped with NACS ports, providing direct access to the Supercharger network. However, Volkswagen and Stellantis are notable holdouts, though reports as of November 2023 suggest that they are in discussions with Tesla.

In anticipation of this change, owners of CCS-enabled EVs from automakers in the NACS alliance can gain earlier access to the Supercharger network with the Lectron Vortex Plug | Tesla NACS to CCS Adapter.

Exclusive Compatibility

The Vortex Plug, designed specifically for CCS-compatible EVs in the NACS alliance, offers a seamless transition for non-Tesla EVs to access Tesla Superchargers. This exclusive compatibility ensures that a broader range of EV owners can utilize the over 15,000 Supercharger port locations nationwide.

Lightning-Fast Charging

The Vortex Plug is not just about compatibility. With a rated current of 500A and a voltage of 1000V, it enables non-Tesla EVs to utilize the full potential of Tesla Superchargers. This translates into significantly faster charging speeds, providing up to 150 miles of range in just 15 minutes.

Lightweight & Portable

Featuring a lightweight and portable design, the Vortex Plug is easy to carry. Whether you're on a long cross-country road trip or running daily errands, it can conveniently fit in your glove box or charging bag.

Plug & Play Simplicity

Connecting your CCS-compatible EV to a Supercharger is hassle-free with the Vortex Plug. It's a simple plug-and-play solution that allows for quick and easy charging.

Despite Tesla’s efforts to retrofit its current Superchargers (a March 2023 report indicated that only eight out of Tesla's 1,400 Supercharger stations were open to non-Teslas), the achievability of the 2024 target remains uncertain. Nevertheless, the Lectron Vortex Plug presents a valuable opportunity for those seeking early access to Tesla’s expansive charging network, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and safety.
